Addie's AutismFITT Club Celebrates the Military
San Diego is a military town, where there are several bases for the Marines and the Navy. Many of these soldiers have children with special needs, such as autism, down syndrome, and other developmental delays. Because Addie's AutismFITT Club carries Tricare insurance, we see many military families at our center. Many of whom discover connections and become friends.
Addie's AutismFITT Club fosters a community, through many programs. Addie's AutismFITT Club holds bi-annual resource nights, that helps bring families together and to help expose families to companies that can benefit their children. Additionally, because Addie's AutismFITT Club works so closely with military families, we were proud to host the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Military Appreciation Day during the Autism Awareness Month.
The event was hosted on Saturday April 25, 2015 from 9:30am-12:30pm. Military families were able to take a tour of our facility and got to play on the equipment that our children have come to lose. They got to play on the zip line, drop into the ball pit, climb the rock wall, jump on the trampolines, climb the cargo net, and play with all the wonderful toys inside the center. But that wasn't all, we also provided food and beverages, sensory play, a bounce house, and a wide array of information on how to help children through occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy and music therapy.
Thank you EFMP Miramar for collaborating with us to host this fabulous event.
